[FEB. 3, 2007]  SPRINGFIELD -- Fifty-one Cadets were scheduled to take the oath of an Illinois State Police Trooper during Cadet Class 113 graduation ceremonies Friday morning at the Illinois State Police Armory. The new officers will begin their district assignments on Monday in Chicago, Collinsville, Effingham, Elgin, Joliet, Oak Brook, Macomb, Metamora, Moline, Pecatonica, Pittsfield, Pontiac, and Springfield.

During an intensive 26-week training period, Cadets undergo a rigorous regimen of physical and classroom instruction which includes training in Terrorism Awareness, Domestic Violence, Critical Incident Response, Firearms Training, First Responder Certification, Illinois Vehicle Code, Criminal Law, Motor Carrier Safety, Emergency Pursuit Driving, Juvenile Law, Police Response to Mental Illness, and more.
