[February 19, 2007]  The Lincoln Community High School speech team ended its season with some exciting finishes at the state tournament in Rock Island. The team finished 10th among 75 teams competing and brought home the state runner-up title in humorous duet acting. Tony Curcuru and Lincoln Moore advanced to the final round and finished second in the state.

LCHS also had two additional team members advance to the final round. Lincoln Moore finished sixth in original comedy, and Annie Sheley finished eighth in radio speaking.

"We couldn't be more thrilled about how the kids finished," said Carrie Schreiber, one of the Lincoln speech coaches. "This finish is our best in many years, and three finalists is also outstanding."

While three finished high in the final rounds, certainly team members Hannah Snyder, Janel Filbeck, Stephanie Holford and Kaylyn Engelhardt represented the team well and had some of the best performances of the year.
