[JAN. 3, 2007]  The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or 732-5844.

Light lunch bingo

Maple Ridge Care Centre will sponsor the "light lunch" bingo that will begin at noon Thursday at The Oasis. Bingo will follow at 1 p.m. Come join the fun and bring a friend!

Soup days

The Oasis is putting together some opportunities for seniors to come in from the cold winter weather and enjoy a nutritious bowl of hot soup for a donation of 50 cents a bowl. Soup days for the month of January are the 5th, 10th and 25th. Soup will be available at 11:30 a.m.

Book club

The book club at the senior center is scheduled for Monday, beginning at 1 p.m. Rekindle the rewards of reading a book and either sharing your thoughts with the group or just sitting back and listening to others. Refreshments will be provided.

Meeters and Greeters

The Meeters and Greeters group will meet Monday at The Oasis, beginning at 2 p.m. This group of volunteers visits once a month with those who cannot get out, to add a bright spot in their life. If you would like to participate or would like more information, call 732-6132.

Tuesday lunch

The 11:30 a.m. lunch for Jan. 9 features fried chicken, green beans, coleslaw, bread and butter, dessert, and a drink for only $3.75, or $3.25 if you stay and play cards. Deadline is noon Monday.

Veterans

The representative from the Veterans Administration will be at the senior center every Tuesday in January. The hours are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. No appointment is necessary. Service is on a first-come, first-served basis.
