City of Lincoln Christmas tree pickup begins Monday

Brush to be picked up          Send a link to a friend

[JAN. 4, 2007]  The Lincoln Street Department will pick up Christmas trees starting Monday at 7 a.m. The trees should be put curbside and be free of all metal, lights and ornaments; the same for wreaths.

These trees are being recycled for wildlife habitat. With the department’s permission, there are also private individuals picking up trees for wildlife habitat.

The street department has been receiving calls seeking information on street sweeping and brush pickup. The department is currently running one sweeper every day, weather permitting, and two sweepers when the workload allows. It takes four weeks for one sweeper to sweep the whole city. The sweeper runs only when it is above 28 degrees and not raining or snowing. The department will be running the entire city for brush as time and workload allow.

If you have brush, put it curbside and crews will pick it up when time allows. The city will not pick up brush in alleys. For more information, contact the street department at 732-4655 or tracy1389@aol.com.
