Nancy Metelko

[JAN. 11, 2007]  Nancy Katherine Metelko, 90, of Lincoln died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007, at 10:20 a.m. at her daughter's home in Topeka.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Episcopal Church, with the Rev. James Cravens officiating.

Burial will be in New Union Cemetery.

Mrs. Metelko and her husband owned and operated the Montgomery Ward store in Lincoln. She also had been a clerk at Sears, Roebuck and a foster grandparent at Lincoln Developmental Center.

She was born May 7, 1916, in Middletown to Eddie and Luella Mills Allen. She married Frank T. Metelko on June 24, 1939, in Lincoln; he preceded her in death on July 30, 1981.

She is survived by two daughters, Brenda (and Russell) Pratt of Oakford and Linda Metelko of Topeka; two brothers, Harry Lee Allen of Mason City and Charles (and Norma) Allen of Atlanta; one sister, Marie Skelton of Middletown; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Calvin, Hubert C. and Eddie Allen Jr.

She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Beta Sigma Phi sorority and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

Memorials may be made to a fund that has been established for her grandchildren's education.
