Hemenway, a native of St. Louis, Mo., received a bachelor's degree
from Southwest Missouri State University and a master's degree from
California State University. He joined Lincoln College in 1991 as
the head swim coach and physical education instructor. In 15 years,
the men's and women's teams have placed second at the national
championships 12 times. He has coached 12 national champions, 96
all-Americans and 32 academic all-Americans. He was named National
Coach of the Year three times. Hemenway lives in Lincoln with his
children, Daniel and Grace. Hemenway says he is very familiar with
the variety of athletic programs that Lincoln College offers and
feels he will offer a fresh approach to the operations. "I feel
confident in the athletic department," he said. "We have some of the
best coaches in their respective sports at this level. My goal is to
continue the successful path that Allen Pickering led us. It will be
difficult filling Allen's shoes, and I will need all the help I can
get."

Lincoln College President John Hutchinson says he is happy to see a
person with Hemenway's ability accept the position. "I am very
pleased that Dan has accepted this very important position,"
Hutchinson said. "He brings a strong athletic background as well as
tremendous interpersonal and leadership skills. He is well-known and
respected by college and high school coaches, both regionally and
nationally. He will continue to bring solid mentorship to our
student athletes."
