Lincoln College Chorale to perform Feb. 3 at Black History Month celebration          Send a link to a friend

[JAN. 27, 2007]  The Lincoln College Chorale will perform at the Black History Month celebration in Decatur on Feb. 3, from 2 to 4 p.m., at the Schilling Auditorium at Richland College.

For the second year, the American Negro Spiritual Celebration will feature the Lincoln College Chorale and other choirs from Decatur churches and the area singing Negro spirituals.

Lincoln College Chorale director Tracy Koch feels the production will be inspiring. "Last year Lincoln College students had the opportunity to experience a wide variety of music -- some songs they were hearing for the first time," Koch said. "I think it's important to learn about the spiritual repertoire because it is a part of our musical heritage as Americans and as musicians. I expect those in attendance will learn something and experience moving renditions of a variety of music."

The event is open to the public and is sponsored by the Decatur Black Chamber of Commerce.
