[July 14, 2007]  (AP) A low pressure system over central Canada will bring showers to the Great Lakes region on Saturday.

The system was expected to bring scattered showers and thunderstorms to the central Plains and upper Mississippi Valley. It could bring showers to New England later Saturday.

Showers and thunderstorms were expected in parts of the Southeast, Southwest and along the Rockies.

Temperatures in the 90s and 100s were expected in the Southwest, Great Basin and Intermountain West regions, while the Plains and Southeast should see temperatures in the 80s and 90s. The Northeast was expected to get temperatures in the 70s and 80s.

Temperatures in the lower 48 states Friday ranged from a low of 32 degrees at Embarrass, Minn., to a high of 120 degrees at Death Valley, Calif.
