Agriculture futures plummet on CBOT       Send a link to a friend

[July 17, 2007]  CHICAGO (AP) -- Agriculture futures plummeted on the Chicago Board of Trade.

Wheat for September delivery fell 19 cents to close at $6.0175 a bushel; December corn shed 20 cents to settle at $3.485 a bushel; December oats finished down 18.5 cents at $2.5525 a bushel; November soybeans dropped 50 cents to settle at $8.9875 a bushel.

The declines in corn and soybean prices reached the daily limit allowed by the CBOT.

Beef and pork futures finished mixed on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

August live cattle dipped 0.27 cent to close at 91.35 cents a pound; August feeder cattle added 1.35 cents to close at $1.152 a pound; August lean hogs lost 0.48 cent to settle at 72.97 cents a pound; August pork bellies ended down 1.93 cents at 88.27 cents a pound.
