County moves ethanol plant forward

The full county board voted to
approve an ordinance granting Illini Bio-Energy a special-use permit
to manufacture flammable gas and liquid at its proposed Hartsburg
plant. Also approved was a special-use permit variance for storage
of the same material.

County board chairman Dick Logan announced July 12 that work on the
2004-2005 audit had been completed and submitted to Crowe Chizek.
Finance committee chairman Chuck Ruben announced on Tuesday that
there would be a special meeting of the finance committee July 24 at
7 p.m. New software for the treasurer's office, the 2008 budget and
the 2005 audit will be on the agenda.
In other action:

Approval was given
for the appointment of William D'Andrea to the economic
development board, representing the county. D'Andrea is the
county zoning administrator.

Approved the
prevailing wage act for the county

Approved the list
of bank depositors for the year. This was to rectify one bank
being previously omitted in board approval.

Bill Sahs, airport-farm chairman, told the board that the new
north-side drainage project at the airport is done and has been put
to the test with several heavy rains recently. No water is currently
standing in a previously wet area.
Houston Casualty was awarded the county liability insurance
contract with no objections. The new carrier will save the county
$20,000 the first year.
