SPRINGFIELD -- As the Illinois General Assembly
heads toward a third month of legislative overtime, state Sen. Bill
Brady, R-Bloomington, is asking central Illinois citizens for their
opinions about the state budget for fiscal 2008.
|
"A continuing lack of
leadership and political infighting by the governor and Democratic
legislative leaders has resulted in gridlock. I recently sent a
letter to nearly 400 local government and business leaders asking
them what they think is most important in the state budget for
fiscal year 2008," Brady said. "That same survey is now available on
my legislative website, and I am asking the good citizens of central
Illinois to give me their input and opinions."
The 44th District senator says the
survey is available at
www.brady.senategop.org, on the top right of the page.
"Democrat leaders failed to meet a May 31 budget deadline. When
it became apparent that they could not pass a budget before July 1,
the start of the new fiscal year, a one-month operating budget was
approved late in June," Brady said. "I did not vote for that budget
because I felt that months of rhetoric and political posturing
needed to be replaced with action. And here we are, nearly a month
later, still waiting for some leadership."
