Power interrupted by vehicular accident     Send a link to a friend

[July 27, 2007]  Mainline power poles snapped and wires were downed in front of Adams School on Lincoln's north side Friday morning. At approximately 6:30 a.m. a vehicle left the road and ran into a pole carrying major power lines. Several other poles carrying lines into the neighborhoods running perpendicular to Nicholson Road subsequently snapped, downing wires as well.

Details of the accident were not yet available at the time of this post. It appeared as though live wires may have fallen on the vehicle. Most of the damage was to the front of the driver's side.

There was an unconfirmed report that one victim was taken to the hospital for observation and treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Initially there were scattered power outages from Business 55 to Woodlawn Road. The areas affected had been reduced by midmorning. Some areas have been restored. Others may not have power back till later Friday.
