[June 04, 2007]  SPRINGFIELD -- Gene A. Crayne and his passenger, Sandra K. Crayne, both of Springfield, were on a blue 2004 Harley-Davidson FLH Series motorcycle eastbound on Illinois 125 one-fourth mile east of Horse Barn Road in Sangamon County at 6:24 p.m. on Sunday.

Crayne attempted to pass another vehicle, also traveling eastbound. The motorcycle left the roadway on the north side, causing Crayne to lose control in the gravel. The motorcycle then entered the ditch on the north side, causing both the driver and the passenger to be thrown from the motorcycle.

The Craynes were transported to St. John's Hospital, where they were reported in serious condition.

Attending the scene were Illinois State Police District 09 and Life Star Ambulance.
