[June 07, 2007]  (AP) Forecasters predicted showers and thunderstorms from the Mississippi Valley to the upper Midwest on Thursday, and dry, warm conditions were on tap from the Mid-Atlantic to the Southeast.

The heaviest rains were expected from eastern Montana through the Dakotas in a system of rain and thunderstorms from the lower Mississippi Valley to the upper Midwest.

The Mid-Atlantic and Southeast were expected to be dry and warm, with high temperatures reaching into the 80s and 90s.

Light showers were expected from New Jersey to Maine.

In the West, dry, clear conditions were expected, with temperatures reaching into the 70s, 80s and 90s.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Wednesday ranged from a low of 21 degrees at Berthoud Pass, Colo., to a high of 102 degrees at Bullhead City, Ariz.
