Emergency Alert System interrupts radio and TV broadcasts          Send a link to a friend

[June 26, 2007]  Invalid national emergency messages broke through commercial radio and TV station broadcasts Tuesday morning. The alarms were triggered by the malfunction of a newly installed Emergency Alert System.

Terry Storer from the Logan County Emergency Management Agency reported that these messages are invalid and require no citizen action.

Technicians for the state of Illinois are working to correct the problem.
