[June 28, 2007]  (AP) A frontal system hanging over the eastern half of the country will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms to the Northeast, Ohio Valley and upper Mississippi Valley on Thursday.

Heavy rain and thunderstorms could hit flood-stricken Texas and Oklahoma again, as flood watches and warnings remain in effect in parts of those states and Missouri.

In the West, a Pacific low pressure system is expected to bring needed rain to coastal areas of Washington and Oregon. Isolated showers are also possible in the Southwest.

Temperatures in the Southeast and Southwest are expected to be hot, rising into the 90s and 100s. The Northeast and Northwest will likely see temperatures rise into the 70s and 80s.

Temperatures in the lower 48 states Wednesday ranged from a low of 31 degrees at Libby, Mont., to a high of 114 degrees at Gila Bend, Ariz.
