[March 07, 2007]  The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or 732-5844.

Oasis potluck

Join us at 11:30 a.m. Thursday for the monthly Oasis potluck. Our special feature will be corned beef and cabbage, along with salads, special dishes and wonderful desserts. Bring a dish to pass or a $3 donation. Following the potluck will be bingo, sponsored by the Christian Village. The monthly lunch drawing is sponsored by Steak n Shake. Come join the fun and surprises!

Book club

Come join the book club at the senior center. Rekindle the rewards of reading a book and either sharing your thoughts with the group or just sitting back and listening to others. The scheduled time is 1 p.m. Monday. Refreshments provided. Bring a friend and enjoy reading!

Memories and Lincoln Writers Club

A new time and place this month: The Memories group and the Lincoln Writers Club will meet at the senior center on Tuesday, beginning at 6:30 p.m. If you have any questions, please call 732-6132.

Tuesday lunch

The 11:30 a.m. lunch for March 13 features chicken strips, au gratin potatoes, cooked carrots, salad, bread and butter, dessert, and a drink for only $3.75, or $3.25 if you stay and play cards. Deadline is noon Monday.

Soup day

The Oasis will serve soup March 14 and 15, beginning at 11:30 p.m. The donation is 50 cents a bowl.

Winners for the week announced

Henry Warnisher and Helen Cart won the weekday pinochle card game. Christine March and Tom Garrison were the weekend winners for pinochle. Bernie DePuy and Dorothy Oltmanns were the winners at five-in-one. Congratulations!
