Illinois Republican Party Chairman McKenna responds to Blagojevich's budget          Send a link to a friend

[March 08, 2007]  CHICAGO -- Statement from Illinois Republican Party Chairman Andy McKenna on Governor Blagojevich's massive tax and spending plan:

"While we still need to get beyond the usual smoke and mirrors to read the fine print of Governor Blagojevich's budget plan today, it is clear his plan includes the largest spending, largest borrowing, and largest tax increase in Illinois history.

"Governor Blagojevich's plan does nothing to address the fact working families are facing skyrocketing electric rates, a lack of good jobs and rising property taxes.

"In order to reform education and health care, we first must reform the way Illinois does business, and Governor Blagojevich's massive taxing and spending plan sounds more like business as usual."
