College financial aid workshop offered at Heartland Community College in Lincoln

[March 27, 2007]  Free financial aid information for parents and college-bound students:

  • Let financial aid officers help you apply for aid, using the Internet.

  • Don't fear the FAFSA, the free application for federal student aid. Advisers will offer advice pertaining to college funding.

  • Learn how to search for scholarships, using the Internet.

What should you bring?

  • 2007-2008 FAFSA on the Web pre-application worksheet. Complete as much as possible. Forms are available at Heartland Community College in Pontiac, Lincoln and Normal and at your local high school guidance offices.

  • Your 2006 federal tax return. If you have not completed this tax return, 2006 W2s can be used.

  • If you were born after Dec. 31, 1983, and you are not married or supporting a dependent, you will need to bring your parents' 2006 tax information.

  • If you, your spouse or parents (if applicable) received any untaxed income during 2006, such as public assistance, Social Security or child support, you need to know the total amount received during 2006.
