[March 28, 2007]  The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or 732-5844.

Illinois Cares Rx income limit increase

New! Income increase. An income limit increase affects Illinois Cares Rx drug coverage only. The income limit for the Circuit Breaker property tax grant and license plate discount has not changed. If you haven't applied for Illinois Cares Rx drug coverage this year because your income was over the limit, you may apply again. Breakfast bingo

The Oasis will have breakfast bingo on Thursday, beginning at 8:30 a.m. The bingo games will be sponsored by Liberty Village.

Low-vision group

The low-vision group will meet at the senior center Monday, beginning at 1 p.m. The guest speaker will be Dr. Paul Anthony, a low-vision specialist.

Meeters and Greeters

The Meeters and Greeters group will meet Monday at the senior center, beginning at 2:30 p.m. This group of volunteers visits once a month with those who cannot get out, adding a bright spot in their life. If you would like to participate or would like more information, call 732-6132.

Oasis Belles

The Red Hat group will meet Tuesday at the senior center, beginning at 11 a.m. If you are staying for lunch, please call for a reservation by noon Monday.

Tuesday lunch

The 11:30 a.m. lunch for April 3 features grilled chicken breast, parmesan noodles with broccoli, bread and a drink for $3.75, or $3.25 if you stay and play cards. The reservation deadline is Monday noon.

Rules of the Road

The secretary of state's office continues to offer a Rules of the Road course free of charge to all interested parties. The course will be presented at the senior center on Tuesday, beginning at 1 p.m. The course is designed to assist individuals who may have to take a written exam or the behind-the-wheel test.

Hearing screening

The Oasis will have free hearing checks April 4 between 10 a.m. and noon. To schedule an appointment, please call 732-6132.

Winners for the week announced

Mina Bradburn and Betty Oltmanns won at weekday pinochle, and Esther Will was the weekend pinochle winner. Dorothy Oltmanns and Linda Hughes won five-in-one. Congratulations!
