Treasurer Giannoulias warns of identity theft

[May 02, 2007]  SPRINGFIELD -- Students at Lincoln Community High School will learn from Illinois State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias' office about how to prevent identity theft.

The identity theft presentation is scheduled for Monday at LCHS, 1000 Primm Road in Lincoln. The presentations will be 8-8:52 a.m., 11:02-11:54 a.m. and 2:15-3:10 p.m. for ninth through 12th grades in the classroom of Janet Cameron.

The treasurer's office teaches youths basic money management skills through a program called Bank at School. More than 300,000 students in 2,100 schools across Illinois have participated in the program, generally reaching approximately 700 students per week during the school year.
