Featuring such memorable songs as "Summer Nights," "We Go Together,"
"Look at Me I'm Sandra Dee" and "Greased Lightning," the musical has
attracted renewed interest in conjunction with the recent NBC
television series, "Grease: You're the One That I Want." The
original Broadway production of "Grease" opened in 1972 and ran
almost eight years, with over 3,000 performances. In 1978, John
Travolta and Olivia Newton-John starred in a feature film adaptation
of the play. A Broadway revival played from 1994 to 1998.
"Grease" takes its name from the 1950s United States
working-class youth subculture, the greasers, and revolves around
the goings-on at raucous Rydell High School.
The story centers around the problems of mutual attraction
between the hip leader of the Burger Palace Boys, Danny Zuko, and
wholesome Sandy Dumbrowski, who is taken under the collective wing
of their sassy female equivalents, the Pink Ladies. The cast sings
and dances its way through such memorable scenes as the pajama
party, the prom, the burger palace and the drive-in movie.
Cast members are Rebecca Kasa as Miss Lynch, Kaylyn Engelhardt as
Patty Simcox, Degan Gregory as Eugene Florczyk, Lorenda Kirby as
Jan, Kelly Knecht as Marty, Rachelle Shuff as Betty Rizzo, Ryan
Brown as Doody, Andrew Kleinman as Roger, Mikel Frost as Kenickie,
