[May 09, 2007]  The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or 732-5844.

Oasis potluck and bingo

The Oasis will have its monthly potluck Thursday, beginning at 11:30 a.m., with a variety of casseroles, special dishes and wonderful desserts. There is no charge for food or beverage provided at this event. If you do not bring a dish to pass and wish to make a donation, the suggested amount for the May potluck is $1. Stay for bingo games, sponsored by the Christian Village. Daphne's sponsors this month's lunch drawing. Last month's winners for the grocery raffle drawing were Mable Hoagland and Marguerite Warrick. Congratulations to all our winners. Bring a friend and come join the fun.

Readers meet

The book club at the senior center will meet Monday, beginning at 1 p.m. Come rekindle the rewards of reading a book and either sharing your thoughts with the group or just sitting back and listening to others. Refreshments provided. Bring a friend and enjoy reading.

Tuesday's lunch

The 11:30 a.m. lunch for May 15 features meatloaf, potatoes, salad, bread and butter, dessert, and a drink for $3.75, or $3.25 if you stay and play cards. Reservation deadline is Monday noon.

Winners for the week announced

Linda Hughes and Tom Garrison were the weekday pinochle card game winners. Marjorie Reiners was the weekend winner for pinochle. Bunco winners for the month of April were Ann LaForge, Eleanor Bartman, Jeanette Behrends, Ella Lee Graney and Marjorie Reiners. Congratulations!

Oasis spring card party winners

The pinochle winners at the spring card party were Dolores Ford, first place; Jewel Schachtele, second; and Marilyn Schneider, third. The bridge winners were Mary Wieland, first; Hernine Singleton, second; and low was Illa Horton. The rummy winners were Ella Graney, first; Dorothy Oltmanns, second; and Betty Burger, third. Door prize winners were Alice Petro and Betty Oltmanns. Congratulations to all!
