[May 14, 2007]  The Illinois Community Action Association had its annual meeting May 6-9 in Springfield. Central Illinois Economic Development Corp. is a member of the association.

Angela Stoltzenburg, CIEDC executive director, attended the conference along with Beth Fleshman, CIEDC deputy director; Kathy Inman, fiscal officer; and Rick Campbell, weatherization and energy director. CIEDC staff and conference participants attended workshops regarding social entrepreneurship, board training, fiscal issues, Head Start, creative management, rural transportation and more.

"Especially during National Community Action Month, it's exciting to network and learn from other Community Action agencies throughout [the state] that share our vision to fight poverty and serve the low-income and senior populations in Illinois," said Stoltzenburg.

During the business meeting, the membership voted to change the name of the organization to the Illinois Association of Community Action agencies. The name change is an effort to clarify the organization's role as a membership organization that serves the Community Action network in Illinois by providing several services, including advocacy and building member capacity.

CIEDC is a Community Action agency serving six central Illinois counties: Menard, Mason, Logan, DeWitt, Piatt and Fulton.
