GLASS FOUND IN IKEA JARS OF MARINATED HERRING

IKEA wants customers who have purchased an "IKEA FOOD" labeled jar of marinated herring with a "Best Before Date 13-02-2008" or earlier to return it to their local IKEA store for a full refund.

IKEA has received two reports where customers have found a large piece of glass in "IKEA FOOD" labeled jars of marinated herring.

IKEA is recalling "IKEA FOOD" labeled jars of marinated herring with a "Best Before Date 13-02-2008" or earlier. The "Best Before Date (dd-mm-yyyy)" is to be found on the label directly above the bar code. Country of origin is Finland.

"IKEA FOOD" labeled marinated herring is sold at the Swedish Food Markets at IKEA stores. Only "IKEA FOOD" labeled jars of marinated herring with a "Best Before Date 13-02-2008" or earlier are involved in the recall -- no other jars of marinated herring sold at IKEA stores are affected.

CHILDREN'S RINGS CONTAIN LEAD

Cardinal Distributing is recalling Children's Turquoise Rings sold in Baltimore, Md., from August 2002 to April 2007. The recalled rings contain high levels of lead.

The silver-colored rings have a round turquoise-colored stone on top. The stone is surrounded by a band of small silver-colored balls.

Consumers should throw the rings away.

CHILDREN'S JEWELRY CONTAINS LEAD

Spandrel Sales and Marketing Inc. is recalling Children's Necklaces, Bracelets and Rings sold nationwide from February 2007 to March 2007. The recalled jewelry contains high levels of lead.

The recalled jewelry includes pendants that hang from silver-colored bracelet and necklace chains, and silver-colored rings with a charm on top.

Consumers should throw the jewelry away.

GENERAL ELECTRIC DISHWASHERS CAN OVERHEAT

GE Consumer & Industrial is recalling GE Dishwashers sold nationwide from September 1997 to December 2001. Hazard: Liquid rinse-aid can leak from its dispenser onto the dishwasher's internal wiring, which can cause an electrical short and overheating, posing a fire hazard to consumers.

The recall includes GE built-in dishwashers sold under the following brand names: Eterna, GE, GE Profile™, GE Monogram®, Hotpoint® and Sears-Kenmore. The dishwashers were sold in white, black, almond, bisque and stainless steel. The brand name is printed on the dishwasher's front control panel. CHILDREN'S GARDENING GLOVES CONTAIN LEAD

Troy-Bilt is recalling Budding Gardener Complete Gardening Set sold nationwide from February 2006 to January 2770. The stamp-painted logo on the backside of the gardening gloves contains high levels of lead.

The Budding Gardener Complete Gardening Set included a wheelbarrow, sprinkling can, pair of gardening gloves, hand tools and seeds. The gloves are yellow on one side and white with rubber dots on the other side. The gloves have a picture of four children in a field, with "The Budding Gardners" written in red around the picture.

BOOKSPAN BOOKS POSE CHOKING HAZARD

Bookspan is recalling Baby Buddy Clip-on Books sold nationwide from September 2006 to March 2007. The metal clip used to attach the book to a stroller or article of clothing can break, posing a choking hazard to young children.

This recall involves Baby Buddy clip-on clothes/stroller books. The 4-inch round book titled "Baby Faces" displays eight babies making faces that correspond with the emotion listed on the page.

Bookspan is also recalling Discovery Bunny Books sold nationwide from February 2006 to March 2007. The seam on the bunny's left hind leg can open, exposing a plastic squeaker toy contained inside a cloth bag, posing a choking hazard.

This recall involves Discovery Bunny yellow cloth books. The midsection of the yellow and white plush stuffed bunny opens to a six-page cloth book. The plush bunny has black and white-checkered ears and feet. The "SoftPlay" logo is printed on a tag sewn into the bunny toy.

Consumers should return the books to Bookspan.

BUTTONS ON SHORT SETS CAN DETACH

Samara Brothers is recalling Boy's Three Piece Short Sets sold nationwide from April 2006 to March 2007. The decorative fish buttons on the shorts and shirt could detach, posing a choking hazard.

The set consists of green plaid shorts, a polo-style solid shirt trimmed with a blue and green stripe, and a green plaid hat. The short sets were sold in three sizes: 2T, 3T and 4T. The style number is 40873H94 GRN, which was written on the hangtag attached. The brand is "Sam Says," which is written on the collar tag of the shirt.

Consumers should dispose of these buttons.

BUTTONS ON CAPRI PANTS SOLD AT MERVYNS CAN DETACH

Mervyns is recalling Little Girls Capri Pants with Snap Roll Cuff sold nationwide at Mervyns from December 2006 to April 2007. The buttons inside the waistband of the pants can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children.

The recalled pants are Ellemenno brand Capri pants sold in girls' sizes 4, 5, 6, 6X, 7 and 8. Inside of the waistband are two clear buttons and a strip of enclosed elastic for adjusting the fit of the pants. "VN 69047" is printed on the product care label located inside the waist of the pants.

Consumers should return the pants to any Mervyns store for a refund.

TABLE LAMPS HAVE DEFECTIVE LIGHT SOCKETS

Currey & Company is recalling Table Lamps sold nationwide from April 2006 to January 2007. The light sockets on these lamps have a defect, which poses electrical shock and fire hazards.

This recall involves Currey & Company table lamps that ranged in height from 26 to 34 inches. The recalled table lamps include model numbers 6037, 6038, 6039, 6040, 6043, 6044, 6045, 6046, 6047, 6048, 6632, 6633, 6685, 6913 and 6954. The model number is printed on the packaging and on the bottom of the lamp base.
