[November 02, 2007]  The Logan County Genealogical and Historical Society will host a presentation of "Abraham Lincoln, The Boy -- The Man" at its Nov. 19 dinner meeting at Rusty's Clubhouse, starting at 6 p.m. For dinner reservations, please call 217-732-3200 by Nov. 15.

The presentation by Robert E. Church, executive director of the Illinois Professional Land Surveyors Association, is based on a book written by the late Lloyd Ostendorf of Dayton, Ohio. Included in the presentation are 165 slides of original Ostendorf drawings and photographs from the Ostendorf collection, depicting Mr. Lincoln's life.

Mr. Church has been instrumental in promoting Lincoln's life throughout the country, especially the little-known aspect that Abraham Lincoln was the deputy surveyor for Sangamon County from 1833 to 1837.
