LCHS Speech Team Sees First Tournament

[November 05, 2007]  NORMAL -- The Lincoln Community High School speech team started off its season this weekend at the ISU speech tournament. The team was second of 12 in the varsity division, following perennial state champion Downers Grove South.

The varsity team had two champions, Annie Sheley in radio and Cameron Kurtz in impromptu.

Other high-placing finishers were Todd Schumacher, second in original comedy; Stephanie Holford and Taylor Muck, second in humorous duet; Cody Follis and Kaylyn Engelhardt, second in dramatic duet; Taylor Muck, second in verse; and Janel Filbeck, second in declamation and fourth in oratory.

Annie Sheley was third in special occasion, Cameron Kurtz fifth in extemporaneous, Stephanie Holford sixth in humorous interpretation, and Cody Follis third and Jairris Vermeiere fourth in prose.

Novice finalists were Haley Adams, third in oratory; Emily Harms, fourth in original comedy; and Harms and Travor Arrington, eighth in humorous duet.
