 Preliminary information
indicates a 1997 Ford Crown Victoria driven by Justin L. Taylor of
Decatur and a 1999 Chrysler Concorde driven by Shaitan L. Cook of
Decatur were traveling northbound on Dye Road.Taylor's vehicle
drove into the southbound lane, into McMillen’s path, and struck the
right front corner of the squad car, which rotated 90 degrees
clockwise and slid into the northbound lane of Dye Road. The squad
car was then struck in the driver's door by Cook's vehicle.
Cook and a passenger, Marcos Knighten of Decatur, were
transported by ambulance to St. John's Hospital with
non-life-threatening injuries. Taylor was not injured.
The crash is still under investigation by state police crash
reconstruction officers.
