Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement Yields 48 Arrests From the Weekend

[November 06, 2007]  SPRINGFIELD -- Capt. James W. Wolf, District 9 commander, announced the results of an Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement patrol conducted in Sangamon County on Friday and Saturday. Illinois State Police troopers made 48 arrests:

  • Driving under the influence of alcohol: 8

  • Suspended or no valid driver's license: 3

  • Speeding: 6, 9

  • Failure to wear safety belt: 8

  • No valid insurance: 7

  • Criminal arrests: 5

  • Illinois Vehicle Code violations: 11, 36

The ISP reminds those who drink and drive that future patrols will be conducted and the state police will continue to work to save lives by taking DUI offenders off the road, arresting them and locking them up.

ACE patrols are part of the "You Drink and Drive, You Lose" campaign and are funded through a grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The grant is administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Traffic Safety.
