Oasis Update

[November 07, 2007]  The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or 732-5844.

Oasis potluck

The senior center's monthly potluck is Thursday, beginning at 11:30 a.m. To celebrate Thanksgiving, the menu will feature turkey and trimmings, along with side dishes and desserts. Bring a dish to pass or a suggested donation of $3. Stay for bingo games beginning at 1 p.m., sponsored by The Christian Village. There will also be a lunch drawing, sponsored by Long John Silver's.

Oasis closed for Veterans Day

The senior center will be closed Nov. 12 to observe Veterans Day. Activities will resume the following day, with regular hours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Tuesday lunch

The 11:30 a.m. lunch for Nov. 13 features Texas casserole, salad, bread and butter, and dessert for $3.75, or $3.25 if you stay and play cards. Reservation deadline is 4 p.m. Friday.

Bingo at the Rec

Doors open at 5:30 for Tuesday night bingo at the Lincoln Park District Rec Center. The bingo special is "luck of the draw." If you pull a red card from the deck, you get 50 percent off the purchase price. If you pull a black card from the deck, you get 25 percent off.
