[November 07, 2007]  The investigation of the alleged bomb threat that occurred at Lincoln Community High School on Nov. 1 has determined that four students from the school were involved.

  • Kimberly D. Reebel
    Date of birth: 4-6-89
    320 Jackson St., Lincoln

  • Molly M. Knowles
    Date of birth: 7-13-90
    721 Tremont St., Lincoln

  • Alexandria K. Springer
    Date of birth: 3-18-90
    1603 2080th, Lincoln

Reebel and Knowles were arrested Tuesday and charged with disorderly conduct (720 ILCS 5/26-1, subsection (a)(3)), a Class 3 felony. Springer was arrested on Saturday and bond set at $30,000. The bond set for Reebel and Knowles is also $30,000.

A 15-year-old juvenile had knowledge of the incident, and David Rands of the state's attorney appellate prosecutor's office will review the reports and determine if any charges will be made against the juvenile.

The investigation has revealed that the students involved planned and carried out the act after arriving at school Nov. 1 as a means to get out of school.

This is a very unfortunate incident that put the student body, staff, parents and community into a state of turmoil. The investigation was diligently pursued over the weekend and culminated Tuesday with arrests by the Lincoln Police Department. The Lincoln Police Department appreciates the assistance from the Logan County state's attorney's office, Illinois Secretary of State bomb squad, Illinois State Police agents and agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The administration at LCHS was instrumental in their assistance. The School Safety Plan was implemented and worked flawlessly.

These arrests should send a message to the student body that these actions will not be tolerated and that every investigative measure will be taken to identify, arrest and prosecute those responsible.
