Lincoln Community High School Speech Team Wins Normal West Tournament

[November 12, 2007]  NORMAL -- The Lincoln Community High School speech team continued its success by winning the Normal West Tournament in the Tropics on Saturday. The Lincoln team topped 18 other teams.

The LCHS varsity team had eight champions, led by the double wins of Janel Filbeck in oratory and oratorical declamation, Taylor Muck in verse reading and humorous duet acting with Stephanie Holford, and Todd Schumacher in dramatic interpretation and original comedy.

Other individual champions were Annie Sheley in radio speaking and Kelly Knecht in special occasion speaking.

Other varsity finalists were Cody Follis and Kaylyn Engelhardt, third in dramatic duet acting; Lorenda Kirby and Rebecca Kasa, sixth in dramatic duet; Cameron Kurtz, second in extemporaneous speaking and impromptu; Stephanie Holford, second in humorous interpretation; Kaylyn Engelhardt and Kelly Knecht, third in humorous duet; Cody Follis, second in prose; and Annie Sheley, third in special occasion.

Novice finalists were Katy Langdon, second in verse; Abby Parmenter, second in declamation and fourth in special occasion; Haley Adams, second in oratory; Emily Harms, second in original comedy; and Harms and Trevor Arrington, fifth in humorous duet.
