Illinois Up for Pontiac Game Changing Moment

Send a link to a friend

[November 12, 2007]  In what is now being called the "season of upsets," it was the University of Illinois that stepped up on Saturday to knock off No. 1-ranked Ohio State University. Illini quarterback Juice Williams threw four touchdowns passes to help lead his team to victory. However, it was his 1-yard sneak on fourth-and-1 with 6:35 remaining in the game that helped seal the 28-21 win and earn Illinois a Pontiac Game Changing Performance nomination. (See Fighting Illini game report.)

Now it is up to Illinois fans to determine if the Fighting Illini will earn a Pontiac Game Changing Performance for the 11th week of the 2007 NCAAR Football season. Fans can go to http://www.pontiac.com/ncaa/, where they can view video clips of the four finalists and vote for their favorite play. Voting ends at midnight Wednesday. ESPN will announce this week's Pontiac Game Changing Performance winner on Thursday night, during the "Pontiac Performance Halftime Report."

The winning university earns a $5,000 contribution from Pontiac to their general scholarship fund. Additionally, the winning play will be nominated for the Pontiac Game Changing Performance of the Year and the chance to win a $100,000 general scholarship from Pontiac.

"Awarding more than $1 million since its inception, the Pontiac Game Changing Performance program continues to be a great example of how passionate fans can have a positive impact academically and athletically by generating scholarship dollars for universitywide programs," said Kirk Herbstreit, ESPN game-day analyst.

In addition, each week one lucky individual who visits www.pontiac.com/ncaa will also win a $5,000 scholarship for themselves or their family. In total, Pontiac will provide $300,000 worth of scholarships to universities and individuals throughout the season.
