Seniors aged 60 or better have a new option for
dining out. As CIEDC continues its efforts to bring social meal
options to seniors, the agency announced that it has developed a
partnership with Mason City's Harvest Restaurant, located at the
corner of Route 29 and Route 10.

As part of its congregate meal program, CIEDC has worked with
Harvest Restaurant's Eric Gum to develop a menu of two breakfast and
five lunch-dinner choices for program participants. When they dine,
registered program participants will present a meal card to the
staff at Harvest Restaurant. These social seniors can eat one meal a
day at the restaurant for a suggested donation of $3, which can be
collected on-site. "Eric Gum at Harvest Restaurant has been very
enthusiastic about helping the community, and we know that the
seniors in Mason County will enjoy this new option," said Angie
Jenkins, CIEDC senior programs director.
Harvest Restaurant is participating in this program on Tuesdays
and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays from 10
a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Registration will
be limited in order to gauge interest in the program and ensure
smooth coordination of the program. A waiting list will be taken.

To sign up, seniors can attend one of two sign-up days scheduled
at Harvest Restaurant, from 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 20 and 27. CIEDC
staff will be at the restaurant on those days to distribute
participation cards and answer questions about the program. Meal
service will begin Nov. 20.
Participants in the program can attend a variety of congregate
sites throughout Logan and Mason counties by showing their
participant card. CIEDC can also provide rides to the congregate
sites through its transportation program for seniors. Interested
seniors can call 217-732-2159, ext. 240, for information about meals
or rides.
