[November 20, 2007]  GARDEN CITY PARK, N.Y. (AP) -- It was a hit-and-run of an entirely different persuasion. A late-night burglar plowed a vehicle into a suburban Radio Shack store -- then drove away with five flat-screen televisions and a laptop computer, Nassau County police said Monday.

The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. Sunday. The missing merchandise was valued at around $3,775. Damage to the store was described as extensive.

Police asked that anyone with information contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.

Officers responding to the alarm found the storefront window shattered. "The car mounted the curb and broke the windows and an unknown number of subjects took merchandise," said Lt. Kevin Smith. Police theorized that it would take more than one person to carry the stolen goods.

Smith said police were interviewing a potential witness and detectives were reviewing a video.
