As CIEDC continues its efforts to bring social
meal options to seniors, the agency has worked with the San Jose
Christian Church to bring another congregate option to Logan and
Mason counties. The congregate site will be located in the
fellowship hall at the church, located at 205 E. Race St. in San
Jose.

Seniors will have the option of enjoying this social option on
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. Seniors aged 60
or better can participate. Spouses of individuals 60 or better are
also invited to attend. This "social senior spot" will be
coordinated by a CIEDC staff member who will ensure that the site
offers not only a good meal, but also an opportunity to socialize,
participate in activities and play games.
The meals are available to the seniors for a suggested donation
of $3, which can be collected on-site. Participants who can't pay
the suggested donation will not be denied a meal.
"San Jose is on the edge of Logan and Mason counties, so we hope
to see seniors from both counties enjoy this new option," said Angie
Jenkins, CIEDC senior programs director.
The San Jose site will serve its first meal on Dec. 4. CIEDC
encourages participants to make reservations for the meals by
calling Kalyn Berglin at 217-732-2159, ext. 240, but individuals or
spouses of anyone aged 60 or better are encouraged to join the group
for a meal and conversation.
