Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bishop Celebrate 60 Years

[November 21, 2007] Robert D. and Josephine A. Bishop will observe their 60th wedding anniversary at an open house in their honor, hosted by their children, from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the American Legion Hall, 1740 Fifth St. in Lincoln.

All friends and relatives are invited (no invitations were mailed). The couple requests, "No gifts, please!" Sharing in the celebration would be the best gift of all.

Josephine Ann Hickey and Robert D. Bishop were married Dec. 6, 1947, at St. Patrick's Church in Lincoln. The Rev. Harold Pendergast officiated.

They are the parents of Robert E. "Bob" (and Gayle) of Springfield, John E. "Jack" (and Laurie) of Lincoln, Michael J. (and Marni) of Gibson City, Melinda A. "Mindy" (and Todd) Courtwright of Lincoln, Donna M. (and Ron) Billington of Bellevue, Neb., and James H. "Jim" (and Paula) of Lincoln. They also have 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. One granddaughter is deceased.

Robert retired from Cilco in 1984 after 37 years of service. Josephine retired from GTE in 1983 after 29 years of service.
