[October 01, 2007]  (AP) High pressure was bringing clear skies to the Midwest and East Coast early Monday, while wet weather was in store for the Midwest, Southwest and Plains.

Late in the day, the Southeast was to begin seeing some clouds moving ashore as a low pressure system off the Florida Peninsula strengthens.

In the West, heavy thunderstorms were anticipated in the Four Corners states. Colorado could see some heavy snow in higher elevations, with rain in the lower elevations.

The West Coast was to grapple with some wet weather in the morning, with the heaviest precipitation falling in the Northwest. Snow levels in California will be close to 7,000 feet around Lake Tahoe, where a few inches of snow could accumulate.

Temperatures in the West were to cool down considerably.

Temperatures in the lower 48 states on Sunday ranged from a low of 10 degrees at Berthoud Pass, Colo., to a high of 98 degrees at Phoenix, Ariz.
