NORMAL -- After suffering a

the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision national rankings for
a second straight week.

In the FCS Coaches' Poll, the Redbirds fell six spots to No. 22,
while dropping seven places in The Sports Network poll with a No. 23
ranking. With a 2-3 record on the season, the Redbirds are the only
team with a sub-.500 winning percentage in either poll. Montana
maintained the top spot in both polls this week, while the Gateway
Football Conference placed five teams in the top 25 for a
league-record fifth straight week. Northern Iowa, Southern Illinois
and Youngstown State are each in the top 10 according to both polls,
while Western Illinois is also in the top 25.
Including preseason and postseason polls, the Redbirds have now
been ranked in the top 25 for 23 straight weeks.
Illinois State returns to action Saturday, when the Redbirds
travel to Missouri State. The Bears received votes in both polls
this week. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:07 p.m. (Game
