Lincoln fire chief to step down          Send a link to a friend

[October 02, 2007]  It was with regrets that Mayor Beth Davis-Kavelman read a letter of resignation submitted by Lincoln Fire Chief James Davis.

Davis has set Nov. 23 as his last day on the job. In the letter, the chief said it was to take advantage of the early retirement incentive that the city is offering.

Davis was serving as a fire inspector with the Lincoln department when he was appointed chief on Jan. 17, 2006.

Davis replaced Chief Robert "Bucky" Washam when Washam retired. Washam had been the first fire chief under Mayor Davis.

Davis appointment: City approves new fire chief

Washam appointment: Council OKs new city police, fire chiefs; other department heads stay
