[October 03, 2007]  The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or 732-5844.

Maple Ridge to sponsor bingo

Maple Ridge Care Centre will sponsor this week's Thursday afternoon bingo, beginning at 1 p.m. Bring a friend and come join the fun.

Blood pressure checks

The Oasis offers free blood pressure checks every Friday between 10 and 11:30 a.m. No appointment necessary.

VA services

The representative from the Veterans Administration will be here every Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. No appointment necessary. Service is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Tuesday lunch

The 11:30 a.m. lunch for Oct. 9 features pepper steak over rice, salad, bread and butter, dessert, and a drink for $3.75, or $3.25 if you stay and play cards. Reservation deadline is 4 p.m. Friday.

Bingo at the Rec

The special for Tuesday night bingo at the Lincoln Park District Rec Center is "Free 6 on 9 up." Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and games start at 6:50.

Winners for the week announced

Mable Hoagland was the weekday pinochle winner. The weekend pinochle winners were Helen Stephenson and Lucky Eichner. Winners at five-in-one were Bernie DePuy and Ella Lee Graney.
