[October 05, 2007]  (AP) Forecasters predicted showers and thunderstorms in the Southeast on Friday, with the most severe weather in Florida. Thunderstorms and rain were also expected in California and Minnesota.

Florida was expected to see widespread showers and thunderstorms throughout the day. The same system was expected to bring rain to the rest of the Gulf Coast region as well.

In the West, rain was expected in California. Unseasonably cool weather was anticipated throughout the region, with snow in the Sierra and Cascade mountains expected. Rain was also expected to spread eastward into the Rockies, where temperatures were expected to be warmer.

Wet weather was also expected in the Northern Plains and Midwest. Some heavy thunderstorms are expected in southern Minnesota, including some with excessive winds and small hail.

Temperatures in the lower 48 states Thursday ranged from a low of 19 degrees at Burns, Ore., to a high of 102 degrees at Death Valley, Calif.
