[October 11, 2007]  SPRINGFIELD -- Following the 57-53 vote in the Illinois House of Representatives to accept the governor's veto of Senate Bill 540, Gov. Blagojevich made the following statement Thursday:

"Today members of the Illinois House of Representatives did the right thing and voted to save lives. I want to thank them for voting to sustain my veto and not allowing the speed limit for trucks to increase to 65 miles per hour. Safety experts tell us my veto and the vote to uphold it will save 115 lives this year alone."
