[October 15, 2007]  (AP) Forecasters predicted showers and thunderstorms from the Plains to the Great Lakes on Sunday, while the West was expected to be mostly dry.

A system bringing heavy rain and thunderstorms to parts of the Rockies and Plains was expected to move into the upper Midwest and Great Lakes as the day progresses.

Rain and, at higher elevations, snow were expected throughout the central Rockies.

In the Northeast, lingering showers were expected.

The West was expected to be mainly dry, except for some rain in western Washington and Oregon late in the day.

Temperatures in the Northeast are expected to range from the 40s to the 60s, while the Southeast and southern Plains are expected to see temperatures from the 70s to the 90s.

The Rockies are expected to experience temperatures in the 30s and 40s.

Temperatures in the lower 48 states Saturday ranged from a low of 21 degrees at Land O' Lakes, Wis., to a high of 103 degrees at Pecos, Texas.
