Seven students receive Peacock Scholarship

[October 18, 2007]  Seven Lincoln College students from the area have been awarded the H. Safford and Betty Peacock Foundation Scholarship at Lincoln College. Jenna Bergman of Emden, Ashley Cooper of Clinton, Alex Frantz of Atlanta, Victoria Jones of Lincoln, Craig Rohlfs of Lincoln, Rena Sherman of Lincoln and Carrie Williams of Minier are this year's recipients.

Bergman, a 2004 graduate of Hartsburg-Emden High School, is studying general education courses and is currently working toward earning an Associate of Arts degree. She is the daughter of Aaron and Dena Bergman of Emden.

Cooper is a 2006 graduate of Clinton Community High School. She is currently studying general education courses and plans to earn an Associate in Arts degree from Lincoln College. She has achieved academic success and was listed on the fall 2006 President's List as well as the spring 2007 Special Honors List. She is active with the Lady Lynx basketball team and also plays on the Lincoln College women's soccer team. She is the daughter of Sidney and Martha Cooper.

Frantz is a 2006 graduate of Olympia High School. He currently is taking general education courses and plans to continue his education at Illinois State University to study biology. He was listed on the fall 2006 President's List as well as the spring 2007 Special Honors List. He is the son of Gary and Julie Frantz of Atlanta

Jones is a 2006 graduate of Lincoln Community High School. She is currently studying general education courses and plans to continue her education at Illinois State University, where she will major in English education. She was listed on the fall 2006 and spring 2007 Special Honors List, which requires students to achieve a grade-point average of 4.0 with a class load of 15 or more hours. She is the daughter of Steve and Cathy Jones of Lincoln.

Rohlfs, a 2006 Lincoln Community High School graduate, is taking liberal arts courses at Lincoln College and plans to pursue an Associate in Arts degree. He is the son of Ron and Mitzi Rohlfs of Lincoln.

Sherman is currently taking liberal arts courses at Lincoln College. She was listed on the fall 2006 and spring 2007 academic Special Honors List.

Williams is a 2006 graduate of Olympia High School. She is currently taking general education courses and plans to study graphic arts in the future. She was listed on the fall 2006 and spring 2007 Special Honors List. She is an active member of the Lady Lynx basketball and softball teams. She was recently inducted into Phi Theta Kappa, the junior college academic honor society. She is the daughter of Billy and Colleen Williams of Minier.

The H. Safford and Betty Peacock Foundation Scholarship is awarded to students who have achieved academic honors. The scholarship was established by LC trustee emeritus H. Safford Peacock of Lincoln along with his wife, Betty.
