Minier Octoberfest an evening of food, fun and celebration           Send a link to a friend

[October 20, 2007]  MINIER -- Minier's German heritage will spring to life on Oct. 27 as the community celebrates its first Octoberfest. The village will come alive with German food, spirits and live entertainment. The Minier Economic Development Council will host the Octoberfest, with hours from 4 until 11 p.m.

Events will take place along Main Street and in the parking lot behind the Alpine Village restaurant. German and American food and beer will be available. Alpine Village will host a sumptuous German buffet featuring brats, schnitzel and rouladen, an array of German side dishes, and salad bar.

Activities include a cruise-in on Main Street from 4 to 7 p.m. Dash plaques will be given to the first 40 entries.

Village Flowers and Hometown Variety stores will be open from 4 to 7 p.m. to offer visitors fall merchandise. 

The strains of music will fill the crisp night air. A German band from the Bloomington-Normal Community Band will perform from 4 until 7 p.m., followed by Hip Pocket, the popular central Illinois rhythm and blues band, starting at 7:30 p.m. 

The Minier Economic Development Council is a nonprofit, volunteer-staffed organization whose mission includes encouraging economic growth and improving the quality of life in the Minier area.
