[October 22, 2007]  Logan County women of all ages are invited to attend an educational health fair on Friday from 1 to 4 p.m. at The Christian Village Senior Apartment building, 1500 Seventh St. in Lincoln.

The sponsors -- Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital, Logan County Health Department, Lincoln Park District and The Christian Village -- hope the fair will bring attention to a variety of women's health issues.

Participants can take advantage of a number of free health screenings, including blood pressure, blood sugar, body fat, and flexibility and posture.

Discounted memberships for the Lincoln Park District Fitness Center will be available for people who sign up at the health fair.

"Our goal is to educate women about preventing disease, improving health and encouraging women to take simple steps that will help them live longer, healthier, happier lives. The information that will be presented is relevant to women of all ages," said Marcia Cook, community nurse liaison at The Christian Village.

Several local health professionals will be available to answer questions, including ALMH dietitian Jennifer DiPasquale, Lincoln Park District fitness director Stephanie Winter, Christian Village physical therapist Ron Pollett, occupational therapist Sandy Rives and registered nurse Sarah Cook. Representatives from the Illinois Breast and Cervical Cancer program and the Illinois Diabetes Prevention and Control Program will also take part in the fair.

The event will also include refreshments, giveaways and door prizes.

For more information about the health fair, call Marcia Cook at 217-732-2189.
