Wheat prices plunge; soybeans rise          Send a link to a friend

[October 24, 2007]  CHICAGO (AP) -- Wheat prices fell sharply Tuesday on the Chicago Board of Trade, while soybean prices rose.

Wheat for December delivery dropped 30 cents, the maximum swing permitted by the exchange, to close at $8.41 a bushel; December corn fell 3.5 cents to $3.61 a bushel; December oats lost 1.25 cents to $2.7825 a bushel; January soybeans rose 5.5 cents to $9.9925 a bushel.

Beef and pork futures declined on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

December live cattle dropped 0.35 cent to 97.22 cents a pound; November feeder cattle shed 0.52 cent to $1.111 a pound; December lean hogs fell 0.63 cent to 56.27 cents a pound; February pork bellies fell 1.2 cents to 81.52 cents a pound.
