[October 29, 2007]  (AP) Forecasters predicted wet weather along the West Coast on Monday as a system spinning offshore moves ashore, while much of the eastern United States was expected to be sunny and clear.

Showers and thunderstorms were expected to be concentrated in the San Francisco Bay Area, then push eastward across the northern half of California. Rain was forecast to move into the Sierra Nevada mountains overnight.

As the system moves ashore, temperatures were expected to cool down a few degrees.

A second system was expected in the Northwest, bringing clouds and light rain to the region, but the rest of the region was expected to be dry and sunny.

Sunny conditions were also expected throughout most of the eastern U.S., with temperatures expected to rise in the Plains.

High temperatures in New England were expected to cool a few degrees. A few showers were expected in northern Maine and snow was possible in a few places.

Florida could see some rain showers and a few thunderstorms, with most of the rain in the Cape Canaveral area.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Sunday ranged from a low of 12 degrees at Embarrass, Minn., to a high of 101 degrees at East Mesa, Ariz.
