ALMH’s Annual Light Up A Life Campaign Begins

LINCOLN – The annual Light Up A Life campaign at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital is now underway.

Families and individuals may send tribute gifts in memory of someone who has passed before, or in honor of persons still living.  The suggested donation amount is $10 per name.  Proceeds benefit patient care at ALMH.

Names received prior to November 30 are compiled and presented in a special Lincoln Courier insert published on Christmas Eve.  The names of those honored or memorialized will be prominently listed, followed by names of the donors who gave in their name.

New this year, Lincoln Daily News will feature a searchable, online database of Light Up A Life names, available from late December through the end of January 2008.

“Donors may choose how their Light Up A Life gifts are used to benefit patients at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital,” say campaign co-chairs Brad and Carolyn Neal of Lincoln.  “Designated recipients this year are the Medical Technologies Fund, which helps in the purchase of medical equipment for patients at ALMH, or the ALHF Endowment Fund that provides unrestricted support for future ALMH projects.”

In addition to the printed recognition of names, each person honored or remembered is represented by a white light on the trees and bushes in front of ALMH. These will be lit for the first time the evening of Tuesday, December 4.  Following a short outdoor candlelight ceremony, attendees can come inside the hospital for a bowl of chicken noodle soup or chili.

Now in its 19th year, Light Up A Life is a program of the Abraham Lincoln Healthcare Foundation, a not-for-profit entity organized in 1986 to raise funds for Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Donors may send Light Up A Life gifts to ALHF at 315 8th Street in Lincoln.
